Austin Trip

Chloe girl!
Chloe and her friend Ella
I was cooking dinner at Julie's house and Chloe found some nail polish in the bathroom...she didn't do a bad job!  Unfortunately, Chloe had just had her first pedicure the same day.
Shane and I went to Austin April 20-22 with fellow Ben E Keith employees from AR, OK and TX.  It was a work sponsored trip filled with R and R.  We had a great time!
I didn't know this at the time, but Wikipedia informs me we were walking over the Colorado River in downtown Austin.
As we were exploring downtown, we came across a restaurant called Frank's.  When we saw "proud purveyors of pork and it's tasty friends," how could we turn away?
And boy were we glad we stayed! All of the drinks were served in mason jars and prepared by mixologists behind the bar.
Boudin Fritters - after our recent trip to NOLA, we had to give these a try!
This was called the Carolina Pork It - Vienna beef hot dog stuffed with cheese wrapped with bacon and deep fried. Whoa!  Along with grilled coleslaw and house made green chile pimento cheese...and it was AWESOME!
This was called Canadian Waffle Poutine - fries with brown gravy and cheese curds.  I didn't know what to expect with the "curds," but it was just creamy, melty cheese!
To top it off, the Frankencookie - warm chocolate chip and (yes) bacon cookie, coffee ice cream and candied bacon crumbles.  I wasn't so sure about the bacon (salty, savory) with the sweet, but Frank's did not disappoint!
Appropriately, a Willie Nelson statue was unveiled on 4/20
And finally, our last night in Austin we were given a private Pat Green concert at Stubbs. Great BBQ and good tunes was the perfect way to end our trip. Thanks Ben E Keith!!!
